John Daley has a post today about the possible fate of St. Peter's Church in Dorchester. This c. 1888 view of the church, the first Catholic church built in Dorchester, shows a very different Dorchester than what we know today. The streets look like country roads. It should be noted that as late as the 1870s cattle were driven from the Neponset over to Brighton right past the location of St. Peter's, which was constructed in the 1870s.
