26 September 1840
Mr. English, editor of the Boston Herald, was assaulted in his office, and severely beaten, by a son of Mr. Pelby, Manager of the National Theatre.

Does the article say where the National Theatre was located? It obviously wasn't this South End one, built in 1911 and demolished in 1997.
