William Goodrich was detected in an attempt to rob the Granite Bank. He was found in the banking room, having succeeded in opening the outer door of the safe. He said he had two companions, both of whom had made their escape while the watchman went for assistance.
[n.b. The Granite Bank was located at 70 State Street.]
The Whig Legislative Convention unanimously nominated Edward Everett and George Hull candidates of the Commonwealth at the next election. Subsequently Mr. Everett declined accepting the nomination.

About 5 A.M. wooden building on the corner of Chatham Street and Chatham Row, occupied by Kimball and Copp as a W.I. [West Indian, ed.] Goods store, and John Charter, as a Junk shop. Nearly the whole contents of the building were destroyed. K. and C. were insured $5,000, and Mr. Charter had some insurance.
