The winning bid for a parcel of land underneath Doyle’s bar in Jamaica Plain, which I made reference to here, has been decided. Boston Water and Sewer accepted the $5,000 bid from Doyle’s co-owner rather than the $101,000 bid by Michael Tobin of Roslindale. To be fair, selling price was only one part of the determination: allowing an easement for the sewer running under the land and a usage plan for the land also factored into the decision. Still, one has to wonder exactly how large the dollar differential would have had to be to swing the sale to the highest bidder.
