In general, I try not to link to posts on other blogs which Adam Gaffin at Universal Hub has already linked to, given the overlap in readership between The City Record and Universal Hub. However, Adam has linked this morning to two posts written by loyal readers of the City Record and I'm all about sharing the love. Thanks Adam!
Larry Davidson notes that Business Week has chosen Dorchester as one of its up-and-coming neighborhoods. I'll add that we've been down this road before--first, the Globe described my neighborhood as the "South South End" and then the Improper Bostonian proclaimed it "Hot Dot", but it is good to see some national recognition for Dorchester, a neighborhood whose history is too often overshadowed by that of Boston.
Rhea Becker observes the history on a Back Bay block. Within recent memory the City of Boston identified historic businesses in Boston--I'll try to find the brochure the city produced about these historic businesses and post it.
Hi, and thanks very much for linking to my historical Back Bay Block item. I have (somewhere) that Boston city brochure on historic businesses. It was published a few years back. It listed businesses that were 200 years old, 100, 75, etc. Very, very cool!
